I went.  Boldly.

Yesterday I drove up to Toronto to see the entire cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation speak at the Toronto Convention Center.  The event, which celebrated the 25th anniversary of the show, was part of the Toronto Comicon 2013.

My sister and her husband live in Toronto, so I went with my brother-in-law and several of his brothers to see the cast speak.

For most of my life this cast has been one I’ve held in high esteem.  The show, which aired beginning when I was in second grade, was a formative part of my adolescence.  I remember being extremely disappointed that I had to miss the series finale to attend my older girlfriend’s senior prom.

Anyway.  You know how sometimes when you have the opportunity to meet an idol of yours it can be disappointing to see what they’re really like? Not at all the case here.  These seven actors were every bit as charming, funny and affectionate with one another and their fans as one would hope they would be.

And the weekend ended with one of my sister’s delicious tomato, mushroom and goat-cheese omelets.
